The new operation represents an investment of 983 thousand euros, with public support of 492 thousand euros.
The new fish farm has nine production tanks, an effluent treatment tank and a reservoir for water retention. Productive investments include the modernization of the aquaculture production unit, including the improvement of working conditions and safety of workers, and modernization related to animal health and welfare, including the acquisition of equipment to protect farms from wild predators.
Founded in 1994, Aqualvor is an aquaculture company located in the Ria De Alvor natural reserve, in the municipality of Lagos, which produces and markets fish, such as sea bass and bream.
It will now introduce new technologies such as systems and / or processes that increase efficiency in terms of resources, compared to the usual practices of the sector, and install systems that contribute to the improvement of energy efficiency and promote the conversion of aquaculture companies to renewable energy sources are some of the objectives.
“Aqualvor has open channels with large distribution, which allows it a weekly flow of production. It is intended that these dynamics and policies are preserved in the future, with the Portuguese market assuming itself as the main destination market, and marketing to the French and Spanish markets, which have good demand dynamics and more competitive prices,” underlines the regional coordination and Development Commission (CCDR) of the Algarve.
