In November, revenues from tourist accommodation in Portugal passed 329 million euros, the highest figure ever for this month. Compared to November 2022, this figure represents an increase of more than 13%, and compared to the pre-covid period (November 2019) it is a growth of more than 42%
The income of the tourist accommodation sector in Portugal totaled 329,4 million euros in November, 13,3% more than in the same month of 2022, show data from the national statistics institute (INE), released this Monday. Compared to the pre-pandemic period (November 2019), there was a growth of 43.2%. It’s the best November ever in the industry in terms of revenue.
Considering only the income from living quarters, these reached 243,5 million euros, an increase of 13,2% compared to the same period last year and 46,8% in relation to the pre-covid period.
In the whole of January to November, total income grew 20,4% and those related to housing increased 21,6%. In this period, revenues reached 5,7 billion euros in total and those related to housing amounted to 4,4 billion euros, indicates the statistical office.
We do not yet have data for the whole year of 2023 but we already know that it is the year with the most revenues ever. The year 2022 had already been, but already in October, in terms of accumulated income, 2023 had surpassed the total mark of 2022.
Regarding the average income per available room (RevPAR), INE indicates that it stood at 43 euros (an increase of 7,6%) and the average income per occupied room (ADR) reached 91,9 euros (5,2%).
By region, the highest ADR was recorded in the Lisbon metropolitan area (157,4 euros), followed by the North (84,6 euros) and Madeira (81,3 euros).
And in the accumulated period from January to November, it is also in Lisbon that the largest share of total revenues is found (1,8 billion euros), followed by the Algarve (1,5 billion).
