Minced meat a possibility for death of 7 year old boy

A 7-year-old boy died after eating food at dinner last Thursday. The boy felt bad the next day, having been to hospital on Saturday. The last meal prepared contained minced meat and rice, revealed ‘CNN Portugal’, which is now being investigated by the health authorities to determine the cause of this toxic infection.

The child’s mother is admitted to the Hospital of Coimbra in serious condition. The 12-year-old father and brother have already been discharged and are under observation.

The Ricardo Jorge Institute and the Institute of Legal Medicine are investigating the causes. “Biological samples were taken from patients in a hospital environment to investigate the cause of intoxication,” says the note issued by the Public Health Administration of the Center’s Regional Health Administration (ARSC).

The statement added that, in the context of the epidemiological investigation, “house visits were made by the Public Health Unit, with collection of food samples (suspicious meal and other products consumed in family context) and biological,” which were referred to the reference laboratories for research of chemical and biological agents.
