The PSP arrested a young man, aged 23, for drug trafficking in Peniche. He had hashish, lamba, MDMA and cocaine on a stall and was in possession of around a thousand euros in cash. It also emerged that he was serving a suspended sentence for the same crime.
According to a statement released this Sunday, the arrest took place on Wednesday, during “a patrol aimed at preventing latent criminal phenomena”, which saw the suspect in a place linked to drug trafficking.
When he was approached, the young man tried to flee, but was caught. The officers carried out additional searches which culminated in “the detection of a stall with various materials and illegal substances hidden in it”, seizing around a thousand euros in banknotes, a grinder, a precision scale, 72 doses of hashish, 20 of cocaine, 92 grams of lamba and 12 of MDMA.
The PSP also points out that the detainee has a criminal record “and is even serving a suspended prison sentence for an identical crime: drug trafficking”.
When he was heard in court, he was remanded in custody and could be placed under house arrest “if he complies with certain measures and obligations”.
