There are around 230 kilometers linking Trás-os-Montes and the Minho through a new Way of Saint James. The route crosses 12 municipalities and has yet to be inaugurated.

Representatives of the 12 municipalities along the route were present in Vila Pouca de Aguiar to mark another stage in the project. This was the second working meeting with a view to creating the Leon de Rosmithal Way with links to the Santiago de Compostela Way, as well as defining the routes within each municipality.

The new route will pass through the municipalities of Alijó, Braga, Cabeceiras de Basto, Freixo de Espada à Cinta, Mirandela, Murça, Póvoa de Lanhoso, Ribeira de Pena, Torre de Moncorvo, Vieira do Minho, Vila Flor and Vila Pouca de Aguiar.

The creation of the Camino de Leon de Rosmithal with a connection to the Camino de Santiago de Compostela, with an approximate length of 230 km, is seen as an excellent opportunity to boost tourism, promoting the offer of a new tourist product capable of attracting a large number of visitors and contributing to the development of the local economy and religious, cultural and historical tourism in each of the municipalities.
