The event returned to downtown Lisbon this Thursday. There will be names like Chakall, Alessandro Olivotto, Francisco Siopa and Augusto Gemelli.

Christmas is just over a month away, but Lisbon is already well prepared to celebrate the season. After the inauguration of the Rossio Christmas Market, the city has yet another market – this time dedicated to food.

Figueira Christmas Gourmet, organized by the Association for the Dynamization of Downtown Pombalina (ADBP – Associação Dinamização da Baixa Pombalina), returned to Praça da Figueira this Thursday, November 21. The traditional Christmas market will have the expected stalls with different proposals and flavors, show-cookings and the presence of several well-known chefs until December 21.

“Figueira Christmas Gourmet was born out of the desire to make downtown the destination and meeting point of choice for families and friends who wish to celebrate this magical season, providing them with gastronomic experiences where the flavors exalt the union of cultures and histories,” says Manuel Lopes, president of ADBP.

The market made its debut last year in the mythical downtown square and this year, as well as returning, it’s bringing some very sweet news: two master chocolatiers will be joining the panel of international chefs who will be cooking for visitors throughout the days of the event.

The first to present a recipe will be chef Chakall, on Saturday, November 23, at 5pm. Throughout the month, the market’s kitchen will be joined by Alessandro Olivotto, Joana Byscaia, Pedro Mendes, Ann Kristin Wenzel, Francisco Siopa and Augusto Gemelli, who will prepare original dishes “inspired by the traditions of different cultures, with a gourmet and sophisticated touch”.

The recipes will then be made available on the ADBP website so that enthusiasts can recreate the dishes at home.

Departing and arriving in Aveiro, the Vouga Historic Train, known as “Vouguinha”, will once again be running to celebrate the Christmas season.
