cars entering a toll station of a bridge

With the start of the new year, we will see an increase in tolls on both the 25 de Abril Bridge and the Vasco da Gama Bridge.

New year, new increases. Crossing the 25 de Abril Bridge and the Vasco da Gama Bridge to Lisbon will become more expensive from January 1, 2024.

Remember that in mid-November it was announced that tolls on both bridges were expected to increase by around 2.04% for the new year.

It should also be remembered that, in 2023, an increase of 9.5% and 10.5% was planned, but the government intervened, setting a maximum update of 4.9%. One of the quid pro quos given to the concessionaire company, in this case Lusoponte, was that it could add 0.1% over the following four years (starting in 2023) to the price update rate determined by INE.

Figures for 2024

So, as of next week, Class 1 vehicles will pay 10 cents more on the 25 de Abril Bridge. The toll to enter Lisbon will then be 2.10 euros.

For the Vasco da Gama Bridge, the absolute increase will be higher, with 15 cents more to be paid. The toll will therefore be 3.20 euros.

Compared to 2022, tolls on the 25 de Abril Bridge have increased by 20 cents, and on the Vasco da Gama Bridge by 30 cents.

For the other vehicle classes, it was also stated that the increase could vary between 0.25 euros and 0.50 euros.
