Two businesses, seven men and four women, aged between 23 and 64, were identified.
On Wednesday, the National Republican Guard (GNR) seized more than 11,500 liters of alcoholic beverages in the municipalities of Alijó, Amarante, Felgueiras, Paredes, Penafiel, Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia. Seven men and four women, aged between 23 and 64, and two businesses were identified.
According to a statement from the authority, as part of an operation aimed at controlling products subject to the Alcohol and Alcoholic Beverages Tax (IABA), the guards inspected 15 commercial establishments, “where they detected alcoholic beverages that were seized for irregular introduction for consumption”.
The GNR drew up 13 administrative offense notices, one of which related to the Tobacco Tax (IT). During the inspections, the police seized 11,489 liters of fortified wine, 494.5 liters of brandy and 360 cigarettes.
The value of the seized products amounts to 74,300 euros, “and their illicit sale would have caused a loss to the state, in terms of IABA and IT, amounting to 15,000 euros”.
