A supermarket store front

“Small prices. Big smiles” is the slogan of Action, the discount chain that was founded 30 years ago in Enkhuizen, Holland, and currently has more than 2,300 stores in 11 European countries (Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia and the Netherlands).

Action is scheduled to enter Portugal next month, when the location of the brand’s first unit in Portugal will be revealed.

Portugal will be the 12th market for Action, the fastest-growing low-cost non-food retailer in Europe, with a portfolio of more than 6,000 products (from gifts to decorative items, kitchen utensils, towels, underwear, toys, gardening, DIY and also food), promising 150 new products every week.

With more than 1,500 products costing less than one euro, the average price at Action is less than two years.

According to the Dutch group, Action currently employs almost 80,000 people of 136 nationalities.
