Soon, Amoreiras will also receive a visit from Santa Claus and will have a “Magic Christmas Village” with activities for children and their families
The tradition of Christmas at the Amoreiras Shopping Center has arrived and with it comes the anticipation of all who await this occasion, especially for the decorations and the presence of the emblematic nativity scene, which over the years has become an icon of Lisbon during this festive season. At the end of November and into December, families will be able to take part in themed children’s activities and share their wishes with Santa Claus.
The iconic Amoreiras nativity scene, by designer Cláudia Perdigão, surprises once again with detailed figures, many of them mechanical, that recreate the story of Jesus’ birth in a setting that combines tradition and modernity. This work, already recognized by many, is renewed every year with new characters and elements that capture the true spirit of Christmas. Located on the imposing central staircase, the nativity scene includes information plaques and QR codes that allow the work to be narrated in detail, making the content accessible to visitors with mobility limitations or visual impairments and enriching everyone’s experience.
Another moment much appreciated by the youngsters is meeting Santa Claus, who is always attentive to their wishes and willing to take a photo on his throne or sleigh.
In the Central Square, on Level 2, the youngest children, accompanied by their families, will be able to take part in the “Magic Christmas Village” workshop, an interactive space where, together, they will assemble kits with figures alluding to Christmas (building miniature houses, sleighs and stars, among others), which they can take home to play with or decorate. The action set, made of corrugated kraft cardboard, comes to life with three-dimensional sculptures. Next to this space, there will also be a miniature representation of the “village” with an interactive electric train line that can be controlled by the children.
In addition to these dynamics, there is a sleigh which is the perfect photo-point for families to take this year’s Christmas photo.
